The biosourced hemp concrete wall is the winner
the Grand Est Bioeconomy Trophy!

CIBBIOS, a company supported by the Hemp European Hub, has just been declared the regional winner of the Grand Est Bioeconomy Trophy.

Aube, a land of hemp and a hotbed of constant innovation in its various outlets. It was CIBBIOS, a company based in Vendeuvre-sur-Barse, some thirty kilometres east of Troyes, that won this year’s Bioeconomy Trophy for the Grand Est region, along with the Hemp hub.

Still in the process of being structured, the European Hemp Cluster ecosystem already brings together a number of companies in the Aube region, including CIBBIOS, a specialist in hemp prefabrication.

An innovative process that should contribute to the widespread use of biobased products in the building sector

The company is developing the industrial supply of wood-frame and hemp concrete construction panels (wall and roof assembly). The aim is to massively expand the use of such bio-sourced products in the building industry.

Demonstrator building projection

The originality of the solution proposed by CIBBIOS is therefore to set up an innovative industrial drying process in a workshop. This in-plant pre-drying process is also subject to intellectual property protection. En effet, il va permettre d’accélérer fortement le cycle de production et faciliter la disponibilité de cette conception de mur en béton de chanvre sur le marché.

At the program for the production of demonstration equipment is under way, with the construction of a commercial building with a floor area of around 150m2 in the Troyes area. The building will comprise an office area and a workshop area. It will showcase the various constructive solutions possible with CIBBIOS technology. Delivery is scheduled for June 2021.

A company rooted in the region and the hemp ecosystem

Didier GLAIS, the founder of CIBBIOS, has received active support from the Business Sud Champagne economic development agency, the Aube region’s gateway to economic projects and coordinator of the ‘setting up new businesses’ unit of the emp European Hub.

On a confidential basis, the agency provided the initial engineering for the project and, in agreement with the project leaders, brought on board the complementary skills required to bring the project to fruition, such as the Fibre Recherche Développement technical centre and the CRDA, financial backers, local authorities, the technology park, etc. Once the decision had been taken, the CEO and his partner Alain Fernandez were able to multiply their action as much as necessary in an extremely favourable local ecosystem.

In January 2021, Cibbios became part of the new Aube Technopole and was approved by the Innovation Council of the Fibres Energivie competitiveness cluster. The company has benefited from the support of the entreprendre network, BPIFrance and the Grand Est Region.
