Training course in building with hemp at the IUMP in Troyes

On February 12, 13, and 14, a Construire en Chanvre (CenC) training session dedicated to the use of hemp concrete and mortar took place at the IUMP in Troyes. Over the course of three days, nine professionals from five companies benefited from the expertise of Olivier Berthaut (craftsman and manager of Saba Patrimoine), a certified Construire en Chanvre trainer.

The aim of this training course is to discover and enhance the skills of those involved in building with hemp, in order to make the act of building safer. It combines theoretical presentations with practical applications.

On the program:

  • Presentation of the material hemp, its interests and specificities
  • Presentation and performance study of hemp concrete and mortar
  • Study the professional rules for hemp construction to understand their usefulness
  • Presentation of suitable binders and certified shives
  • Application work around main structures: plastering, flooring, walls (lining and doubling) and roofing
