The local hemp, alfalfa and sainfoin industries are joining forces to develop low-input farming areas in Champagne Crayeuse!
Faced with the challenge of preserving water resources and strengthened by the presence of 3 low-input crops on their territory, the local hemp, alfalfa and sainfoin sectors have joined forces to respond to the “BNI in Champagne Crayeuse” call for expressions of interest launched by the SDDEA, the Région Grand Est and the Agence de l’eau Seine-Normandie.
A common goal: to improve water quality while supporting sustainable farming.
2 operational committees have already met under the aegis of the Aube Chamber of Agriculture to define and structure the actions to be carried out until the end of the work in June 2026.
On the hemp side, the Hemp European Hub and La Chanvrière are involved in this project. Within our company’s Agronomy Circle, members are actively working to implement measures in areas facing water challenges in order to:
- Improving yields
- Optimising the recruitment and retention of hemp growers
Among these actions, a crop survey is underway to refine farming practices and adapt technical routes. The results will enable support to be provided to new hemp growers.
Thanks to our workspaces dedicated to co-construction and the expertise of our members, we’re taking part in collective projects to help our regions make the transition!
