The local hemp ecosystem mobilised for the Châlons Fair
Hemp and its agro-industrial ecosystem made a remarkable comeback at the Châlons fair on 7 and 8 September. The Hemp European Hub, its partners – Collectif 3C Grand Est, UIT, FRD-CODEM, La Chanvrière, Cibbios, Envirobat, URCA, Business Sud Champagne, Troyes Champagne Métropole – and all the forces behind its development have been present over the last two days. Round tables on plant fibres in textiles and construction; signing of the charter for the sustainable development of plant fibres in the Grand Est region; presentation of the AMELECA project (the place of hemp in the bioeconomy) by URCA researchers; and, of course, the stand of the Hemp European Hub, housed in the Terres et Vignes area, gave us the opportunity to meet and talk to many curious people and players in the hemp industry throughout the two days.

Cooperation, agility and strong support from local authorities at the heart of the challenges this autumn
The urgent need to move forward quickly, strongly and as a group, the challenges of supply, and the R&D challenges still to be met, particularly for the textile industry, are among the key issues for this autumn. Strong political support from local authorities is also essential In this respect, Troyes Champagne Métropole’s unfailing political and financial involvement over the years remains an example to follow. I would also like to thank the Aube and Haute–Marne departmental councils for joining the drive with their enthusiasm and concrete financial support. Territorial solidarity, magnificently embodied by players such as Collectif 3C Grand Est, Terres et Vignes, Envirobat and many others, shows us that cooperation is the only road to success. So let’s continue to structure and expand our ecosystem! Let’s put our trust in the young people who are bubbling over with ideas and projects! Let’s open up to all the players in France and beyond… That’s how we’ll be able to confirm the position of our region and our country as the benchmark for hemp in Europe.
