Hemp Building Ecosystem Day

On October 9, the Pôle Européen du Chanvre and its partners welcomed some twenty players from a wide range of backgrounds and professions (companies, local authorities, development networks, associations…) to discover hemp construction and its R&D orientations during a day of visits around Troyes.

A full day to follow the transformation process, from the plant to the deconstruction material on the building site, and meet the players in the ecosystem!

A look back at the day’s events:

  • Overview of hemp, its markets, and focus on shives by La Chanvrière, followed by a tour of the factory to discover the initial processing of hemp at the European leader!
  • FRD – CODEM presentation on the major challenges facing hemp in the building industry
  • Lunch, time for participants and our members to socialize, followed by a presentation on the history and activities of the Hemp European Hub.
  • Presentations of a 17th-century house restored with hemp concrete by Paganessi & Fils and a passive house built with hemp concrete blocks by IsoHemp, followed by a tour of these buildings!
  • Visit to the laboratories of ESTP – the leading engineering school for construction (Troyes campus) and presentation of R&D prospects in hemp construction.

Many thanks to all the participants for their interest and their exchanges throughout this enriching day! And, of course, thanks to our members and partners for their welcome, their involvement and the sharing of their expertise!

These hemp ecosystem days are organised by the Hemp European Hub and are open to anyone interested in discovering the different value chains of hemp. Stay tuned for the theme of the next day!
